Spring Equinox ~ It's All About Balance

I am writing this at the actual spring equinox:  March 20 at 11:33am (or so).  My partner Steve and I shared a a moment of celebration because he wanted to read to me from and journal that he kept years ago about noticing synchronicity in his life.  He read from an entry in 2005 about an experience we had together.

We talked a bit more and I wished him a happy equinox.  We got curious about the exact day and time it is this year, and when I looked it up, it was 2 minutes away.  Pretty synchronous, right?!

The topic of this is though is the the equinox.  Balance in the day and night. And how to weave more balance into daily life.

Typically we think of the equinox as when light and dark of the day is even, and our minds turn to considering balance.

I was lucky enough to find inspiration in two ways so far today.  One was from a photo my sister posted in facebook.  I have never been able to do it, yet she seems to, and that is to have an egg balance on it’s point as in the photo.  The second source of inspiration is from Starhawk, where she wrote her thoughts about balance on this day. While she focused on the balance she sees between war and acts of kindness, I am taking the idea in a different direction —balance in the small —very small moments.

How do you approach balance in your life?   Where can you find more balance? How specific can you be when you consider it.  What I am encouraging in this exploration is this: in addition to the bigger meta view, balance between work and play, or rest and pushing exercise, or even alone time vs. social activity, are you able to bring your awareness to possible balance you can invite into the small moments?

Things like:
·      Inviting appreciation to each moment when we are also upset.
·      Delighting in the idea that someone was honest with you even when you find distress in what they are saying?
·      Celebrating your child’s independence even when it requires more attention and time than you might like spending on ‘getting something done’.
·      Wondering what wisdom (or path of logic) your body is offering you when pain is present (or other symptoms).
·      Offering a solution to a problem you are experiencing with a project or work partner, when you present the problem.
·      When a situation arises that you want to shift, can you consider what you might ask for the others might be able to say yes to rather than demand something you know they just won’t·      When you are having a thought that adds to your suffering, are you able to include the thought that you might not be right about what you are thinking.

Especially in these times of uncertainty and being immersed in experiences of prolonged despair, perhaps collectively it will be a wonderful time to anticipate new ideas coming up from the darkness of winter.

The energy of the Spring Equinox is waking up your spirit with new ideas and new dreams for your life.  Its fresh, warm energy has the power to make you feel alive & inspired. The inspiring Spring Equinox energy is encouraging you to be reborn.

 Embrace this new beginning !
