Dear Lilac Trees

There are two or three lilac trees on Palethorp and Hancock Streets (the streets that are perpendicular to mine. I’ve never seen you til I moved here. I have never experienced your true glory til I moved here. The frangrance that lasts just about two weeks, even a block away seems impossible yet every year at this time I get to witness you and enjoy you. Trees, not bushes. White, not purple. Thank you for your gifts.
