Dear Garden

It’s July and for a few weeks now, you are in that phase where the pace of work almost matches my energy level. Less sweeping of all the things that fall from the Norway Maple. All the veggies are planted, and not quite ready for harvest. You are green as green can be. The new fire pit is a delight every morning. The pond is clear. Most of the leaves are up. The flower meadow is showing it’s flowers—zinnias, coreopsis, fleabane, black susans. Grass is relatively green and weed free. Ninebark is growing like crazy!! Finally put them in and so glad with that choice. The sweetbay magnolia seems to be thriving. Blackberries have just given their gifts and many new shoots are growing. Grateful for the columbine seeds all over the place that I have been planting here and there. Oh…and the mushrooms. What a great idea, and they have been sprouting in the new mushroom path under the tree! So fun.
